Why I Tied My Tubes – Shaffy Bello Opens Up
Veteran Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello has shared details about a deeply personal decision she made years ago to stop having more children.
Speaking on her YouTube platform, Shaffy Bello TV, the actress revealed that she underwent a procedure known as tubal ligation about 26 years ago, as she was certain she did not want a large family.
According to her, the decision was intentional and well thought out, even though her former husband had hoped they would have more children.
“My ex-husband had to beg me to have another one. I didn’t want a lot of children. I wanted to stop,” she said.
Bello explained that the procedure involved doctors accessing her fallopian tubes through her navel and tying them, a process that permanently prevents pregnancy.
She noted that the decision gave her peace of mind, as it aligned with the kind of family life she had always envisioned for herself.
The actress also made it clear that she never felt pressured to conform to expectations around having more children, choosing instead to stick to what she believed was best for her.
In a lighthearted remark, Bello added that if she were ever to get pregnant after the procedure, she would consider it nothing short of a miracle.
Her revelation adds to ongoing conversations around motherhood, personal choice, and family planning, especially among women navigating societal expectations and individual preferences.
