CAC Temporarily Shuts Down Company Registration Portal After Cyber Incident
Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced a temporary shutdown of its company registration portal following a cybersecurity incident that affected a significant volume of data.
In a statement shared via its official X account, the commission disclosed that the disruption is part of a scheduled maintenance window aimed at addressing the issue and strengthening its systems.
The portal will remain unavailable for a short period, beginning on April 17 and expected to be restored by the morning of April 20.
CAC confirmed that it is working closely with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to contain the breach and implement necessary safeguards.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has launched an investigation into the incident to determine its scope and implications.
The commission assured users that the temporary downtime is part of efforts to enhance service reliability and protect sensitive data, noting that normal operations will resume once the maintenance process is completed.
