Mark Zuckerberg Joins Elite $200 Billion Club, Eyes Spot as World’s Third-Richest
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, has officially entered the exclusive $200 billion club, closing in on the title of the third-richest person globally. According to Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index, Zuckerberg’s fortune has skyrocketed by $73.4 billion in 2024, bringing his total net worth to $201 billion.
At 40, Zuckerberg ranks as the fourth-richest person in the world, trailing behind only Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and X ($272 billion); Amazon founder Jeff Bezos ($211 billion); and Bernard Arnault, head of luxury brand LVMH ($207 billion). Zuckerberg’s increasing wealth is largely tied to the success of Meta Platforms, which operates social media giants Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and messaging app WhatsApp.
In 2024, Meta’s stock surged nearly 64%, reaching a record high of $568.31 on Wednesday, before slightly dipping to $567.36 by Friday. This growth in Meta’s stock value has been a key factor in Zuckerberg’s financial rise.
During the Meta Connect 2024 event, Zuckerberg highlighted the ongoing development of Meta AI, stating that it is on the path to becoming the world’s most widely used digital assistant. “We’re almost at 500 million monthly active users, and we haven’t even launched in some of the bigger countries yet,” he noted, pointing to markets in the European Union.
Zuckerberg is not the only tech leader to experience a wealth surge this year. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang saw a $62.2 billion increase in his net worth, while Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison gained $58.6 billion in 2024, underscoring the rapid financial growth within the tech sector.
