Taylor Swift Challenges ‘Swift Home’ Trademark Bid in US

Pop superstar Taylor Swift has taken steps to block a US company’s attempt to trademark the phrase “Swift Home,” arguing that the branding could mislead consumers into believing she is associated with the products.

In a filing lodged with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the singer’s representatives formally opposed an application by New York-based bedding firm Cathay Home to register the name for its line of home goods.

Swift’s legal team, acting through TAS Rights Management LLC, maintains that the way “Swift” is styled in the company’s branding closely resembles the artist’s well-known cursive signature, which is protected under existing trademarks. The filing argues that allowing the mark could create a false impression of endorsement or partnership.

According to the documents, Swift holds federal trademark protections covering her name and signature across various categories, including bedding, clothing and music-related merchandise. Her lawyers contend that the “Swift Home” branding could trade on her established reputation and consumer recognition.

Cathay Home, which distributes products through major retailers, has applied for exclusive rights to the “Swift Home” trademark for bedding items. The company has not publicly commented on the dispute.

Swift has secured hundreds of trademarks globally to protect her intellectual property, including her name, initials and album titles. The latest filing reflects her continued efforts to safeguard her commercial brand and prevent potential consumer confusion.
