Police Ban PoS Transactions Inside FCID Annex Lagos

The Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos has banned Point of Sale (PoS) transactions within its premises as part of measures aimed at strengthening professionalism and security standards.

The directive was announced by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the FCID Annex Lagos, Simeon Akpanudom, during a strategic meeting and general lecture with sectional heads at the command headquarters on Thursday.

Details of the development were contained in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Aminat Mayegun.

According to the statement, the directive is in line with instructions from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu.

Akpanudom explained that allowing PoS operations within police facilities contradicts operational ethics and security procedures.

He warned that such activities could encourage corrupt practices and compromise official processes within the command.

The AIG also charged officers to uphold professionalism, discipline, and due process while carrying out their responsibilities.

He directed that all intelligence reports submitted within the command must undergo proper verification and scrutiny by sectional heads before approval.

Supervisory officers were further instructed to closely monitor personnel and ensure strict compliance with professional standards to reduce misconduct.

Akpanudom additionally cautioned officers against indiscriminate involvement in land-related disputes, stressing that all investigations must follow established legal procedures.

He urged personnel to avoid actions capable of tarnishing the image of the Nigeria Police Force and encouraged them to maintain integrity, accountability, and respect for the chain of command.

The police chief warned that any form of unprofessional conduct would attract disciplinary measures where necessary.
