Trump Mobile Set To Begin Shipping T1 Phones After Months Of Delays

Trump Mobile has announced that shipments of its long-awaited T1 smartphone will begin this week, nearly a year after the company first opened pre-orders and collected deposits from customers.

The gold-coloured smartphone, branded as the Trump Mobile T1, was initially expected to launch last August but faced repeated delays.

The company recently updated its pre-order terms, stating that delivery of the device was “conditional” and that deposits did not guarantee customers would receive a phone. The revised wording sparked concerns among customers and industry observers over the status of the project.

However, Trump Mobile later confirmed through a series of social media posts that customers who pre-ordered the device would soon receive update emails regarding shipments.

The T1 smartphone is priced at $499 and runs on the Android operating system. Reports indicate that the final version of the device differs from the original specifications earlier promoted by the company, featuring a smaller screen and reduced storage capacity. Despite the changes, the phone’s gold design and Trump branding remain intact.

The device has also drawn attention because of similarities to lower-cost smartphones reportedly manufactured in China.

Trump Mobile chief executive Pat O’Brien attributed the delays to the complexities involved in bringing a smartphone to market, including software finalisation, quality testing and manufacturer agreements.

He said demand for the device has been high and assured customers that orders would be fulfilled over the coming weeks.

Industry analysts noted that launching Android smartphones typically involves lengthy production timelines due to multiple technical and manufacturing requirements.

The smartphone was originally advertised as being “Made in USA,” but the wording was later changed to “designed with American values in mind” after questions emerged over its manufacturing origins.

Analysts have argued that terms such as “designed” and “built” are often vague and do not necessarily indicate where devices are assembled or sourced.

The project has also generated political criticism, with some critics questioning whether the Trump brand is being commercially leveraged while Donald Trump remains in office.

Alongside the smartphone, Trump Mobile is also offering a mobile plan priced at $47.45 per month, a figure viewed as a reference to Donald Trump’s terms as the 45th and 47th president of the United States.
