Alibaba Applauds Burna Boy’s Global Impact on Nigeria’s Image
Renowned comedian Alibaba has commended Afrobeat star Burna Boy for his significant contribution to enhancing Nigeria’s global image, stating that his efforts surpass those of official ambassadors.
In an interview with Channels Television on Monday, June 10, 2024, Alibaba expressed frustration with the government’s oversight of the entertainment industry in economic planning. He highlighted a projection by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) that failed to include the creative sector, underscoring the industry’s critical role in shaping the nation’s economy and cultural identity.
“Two years ago, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group looked into a forecast of the Nigerian economy in the next five years, and the entertainment and creative industry was not considered,” Alibaba remarked, emphasizing the sector’s importance.
Praising Burna Boy, Alibaba noted the artist’s unparalleled impact on promoting Nigeria globally. “Burna Boy has done a lot more for Nigerian national awareness than any ambassador that has been posted to America, the UK, or any other place,” he said. Alibaba lauded Nigerian musicians for their pivotal role in defining and spreading the country’s cultural identity worldwide, singling out Burna Boy as an exceptional figure in this endeavor.
According to Alibaba, Burna Boy’s achievements have positioned him as an unofficial cultural ambassador, significantly raising Nigeria’s profile on the international stage. “Nigerian artistes are creating national awareness and making other countries know about us more than any ambassador would have done,” he added.
