Boomplay, a leading music streaming platform, has unveiled its 2023 Recap List, with Asake claiming the title of the most streamed artist of the year. The Nigerian hitmaker’s stellar performance on the streaming platform further solidifies his position in the music industry.

Asake’s album, “Mr. Money With the Vibe,” secured an impressive second spot for the Most Streamed Album, closely following Davido’s “Timeless.” The rising star, known for his breakthrough single “Omo Ope” in 2022, continued his meteoric rise with the release of his sophomore album, “Work of Art,” in 2023. The album featured chart-topping singles like “2:30” and “Amapiano,” the latter earning a Grammy nomination for Best African Performance at the 2024 Grammys. Noteworthy tracks such as “Lonely At The Top” further contributed to Asake’s dominance in the streaming landscape.

Additionally, global singing sensation Ayra Starr claimed the title of the most streamed female artist in Nigeria, sharing the spotlight with Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage and gospel music icon Mercy Chinwo.

The rising artist category showcased Shallipopi as the most streamed breakout star of 2023, alongside hip-hop sensations ODUMODUBLVCK and Spyro.

Omah Lay’s “Soso” secured the position of the most streamed song in Nigeria, with Adekunle Gold’s “Party No Dey Stop” also making a notable appearance on the list.
