Ayra Starr and Tems have been named the most streamed Nigerian artists on Spotify for 2024, showcasing their significant influence on the global music scene.
Spotify announced this achievement as part of its release of Nigeria’s top 30 tracks for the first half of the year. Ayra Starr’s collaboration with Rauw Alejandro on the track “Santa” led the list, solidifying her dominance. She also secured the second spot with her solo hit “Comma,” while Tems’ “Love Me Jeje” came in third.
Other notable entries included Luciano and Omah Lay’s “Another Vibe,” which took fourth place, and Burna Boy and Savage’s collaboration “Metro Booming Just Like Me” in fifth. The sixth spot was claimed by Tyla and Tems with their track “No.1.”
Phiona Okumu, Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, highlighted the list during a press conference in Lagos, stating that it recognized the most listened-to Nigerian tracks from outside the country between January 1 and June 30, 2024. This global recognition underscores the growing international appeal of Nigerian music and its artists.
