Cardi B Putting Pause on Collaborations to Focus on Solo Project

Cardi B, the Bronx-born superstar, is gearing up for her highly anticipated sophomore album, signalling an exciting return to the music scene after a hiatus of over five years. In an illuminating interview coinciding with her Vogue Mexico cover release on Friday (August 25), Cardi B expressed her eagerness to present her upcoming project to the world.

During the interview, Cardi B confidently stated, “I’m not going to release any more collaborations, I’m going to put out my next solo single.” She provided insight into her creative process, revealing that she is currently engrossed in conceptualizing cover art and ideas for the forthcoming record. “Right now I’m working on the cover art and ideas for the next record because it’s definitely coming up,” she emphasized.

Addressing the timeline for the album’s release, Cardi B acknowledged that she has received suggestions to expedite the process, especially following the successes of hit singles like “WAP” and “Up.” She assured fans that the album wouldn’t be kept waiting for long after the release of her singles. “So stay tuned because it’s coming out very soon,” she added with a confident tone.

Since her Grammy-winning debut album, “Invasion of Privacy,” released in April 2018, Cardi B has tantalized fans with sporadic single releases. Notable tracks include “Money” (December 2018), “Press” (2019), the megahit collaboration “WAP” with Megan Thee Stallion (2020), “Up” (2021), and “Hot Shit” with Lil Durk and Kanye West (2022). Additionally, Cardi B has lent her lyrical prowess to guest verses in various tracks, showcasing her versatility and contribution to the evolving hip-hop landscape.

However, Cardi B’s journey towards her sophomore album hasn’t been devoid of challenges. In December, the artist candidly admitted that her anxiety played a significant role in delaying the album’s release. She expressed her struggles as a mother grappling with separation anxiety from her children and acknowledged that her heightened anxiety around music creation led her to feel unsatisfied with her work.

“Making music to me has become like a job that gives me anxiety because everybody just critiques everything that I do,” she shared. Despite these feelings, Cardi B found solace in the reminder of her love for performing during her recent $1 million, 35-minute stage performance.

Beyond her musical pursuits, Cardi B revealed ambitions to diversify her career. The multi-talented artist disclosed plans to expand into the world of cinema, building upon her occasional appearances on the silver screen. While she recently withdrew from a lead role in a film project in 2022 due to feeling “overextended,” Cardi B’s interest in cinema remains intact, leaving fans curious about her potential return to the film industry.

The interview also shed light on Cardi B’s aspirations beyond music and movies, including ventures into fashion and branding. With her unwavering determination and a dynamic range of talents, Cardi B appears poised to make a lasting impact across various creative domains. As her loyal fan base eagerly awaits the release of her sophomore album, Cardi B’s evolution as a multifaceted artist continues to captivate audiences around the globe.
