Omoni Oboli Announces New Sequel to “Wives On Strike” – “The Uprising”
Nigerian filmmaker Omoni Oboli has announced the return of her popular film series, “Wives on Strike,” with a new instalment titled “The Uprising: Wives On Strike.” The director and executive producer took to Instagram to share her excitement about the sequel, expressing gratitude and anticipation.
“It’s Finally Here, and my heart is brimming with gratitude and excitement! 🌟 Returning to the big screen with ‘THE UPRISING: WIVES ON STRIKE 3’ feels like coming home 💃🏻,” Oboli wrote. “This journey has been one of passion, perseverance, and unwavering dedication, and I couldn’t be more proud to share it with you all.”
She also thanked her cast and crew for their dedication and expressed her appreciation for her fans’ support, announcing that the film will be coming to cinemas nationwide in the fourth quarter of 2024.
Co-produced by Tomi Adeoye and Omoni Oboli, “The Uprising: Wives On Strike” follows the 2017 release “Wives on Strike: The Revolution.” The previous film depicted market women fighting against domestic violence after one of their own was beaten to death by her husband. This sequel continues the narrative, bringing back the original cast members Omoni Oboli, Uche Jombo, Ufuoma McDermott, and Chioma Akpotha. They will be joined by veteran actress Hilda Dokubo, Tomiwa Tegbe, Segun Arinze, Kalu Ikeagwu, Julius Agwu, Emeka Okoye, Bukunmi “Kie Kie” Adeaga, and Okey Bakassi.
Fans can look forward to the film’s release later this year, promising to deliver more powerful performances and compelling storytelling.
