Barcelona Lose Another Legend! Jordi Alba Confirms He Will Follow Sergio Busquets Out of Camp Nou

Jordi Alba, after an illustrious 11-year journey with Barcelona, has confirmed his departure from the club, marking the end of an era.

The 34-year-old left-back, who joined Barcelona from Valencia in 2012, established himself as one of the best in his position.

Throughout his time at the club, Alba celebrated numerous triumphs, including six La Liga titles, five Copa del Reys, and a Champions League trophy.

However, with 19-year-old Alejandro Balde taking his place this season, Alba’s time at Barcelona has come to a close, signifying a generational shift at the renowned club.

In a video on his social media accounts, Alba bid farewell and reflected on his glorious spell with Barcelona.

Barcelona has also issued an official statement expressing their gratitude and bidding farewell to Alba. The statement acknowledges their agreement to terminate Alba’s contract one year earlier than its scheduled expiration at the end of the 2023/24 season. The club commends Alba for his professionalism, commitment, dedication, and his positive and friendly relationship with everyone associated with Barcelona. They extend their best wishes to him for his future endeavors, emphasizing that Barcelona will always be a home for him.

Alba’s departure follows the announcement by midfield stalwart Sergio Busquets, who confirmed his exit earlier this month.

While Busquets’ contract was set to expire at the end of the season, Alba still had one year remaining on his current deal.

According to journalist Toni Juanmarti, Alba has given up a significant portion of his salary by departing this summer, as it was owed to him in deferred payments.

As for Alba’s future destination, it remains uncertain at this point. Speculations suggest Saudi Arabia as a potential option, as well as a sensational move to Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid. However, for now, preparations are underway for a final farewell at Camp Nou for both Alba and Busquets.

Barcelona will host Mallorca in the league on Sunday, providing an opportunity for fans to bid a fond farewell to these club legends.
