Benue Killings Are a National Emergency – 2Face Idibia Laments Rising Violence

Nigerian music legend and Benue State’s Technical Adviser on Entertainment and Community Outreach, Innocent ‘2Face’ Idibia, has decried the continued killings in parts of the state, describing the situation as a national emergency.

In an emotional video shared over the weekend, the award-winning singer expressed deep frustration and sorrow over the recurring violence, stating that the lack of a lasting solution from relevant authorities has left him heartbroken and angry.

“My heart is heavy. I am terribly sad and angry,” he said. “What is happening in Benue State has become a national emergency. I can’t wrap my head around it anymore.”

The Afrobeats icon urged leaders and stakeholders in the state to put aside political and personal differences and unite to bring an end to the crisis.

“This has to stop,” he continued. “My sadness, my anger, my frustration – it’s overwhelming that this keeps happening over and over again. This is no longer something we can just condemn in words. Serious action needs to be taken.”

2Face, who hails from Benue, emphasised that the solution lies in collective effort, stating, “Every stakeholder in Benue must join hands. We can end this. I believe there is a solution.”

His comments come amid fresh reports of attacks in rural communities across the state, reigniting calls for urgent intervention and security reforms.
