Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” Album Surpasses 1 Billion Spotify Streams
Beyoncé’s latest album, “Cowboy Carter,” released in March, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 1 billion streams on Spotify, marking another remarkable feat in the music icon’s illustrious career.
Chart Data confirmed the achievement, announcing on Tuesday that “@Beyonce’s ‘COWBOY CARTER’ has now surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify.”
Since its debut, “Cowboy Carter” has been a resounding success. Billboard reported that the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, with an impressive 407,000 equivalent album units sold in its first week. This made it the biggest sales week of 2024 at the time, solidifying Beyoncé’s continued dominance in the music industry.
Of the album’s 27 tracks, a remarkable 23 made their way onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart, further cementing Beyoncé’s status as one of the most influential artists of her generation. With a total of 106 entries on the Hot 100, she joins an elite group of artists and becomes only the third woman to achieve over 100 entries since the chart’s inception in 1958.
Leading the charge on the Hot 100 from “Cowboy Carter” is the former chart-topper “Texas Hold ‘Em,” which secured the No. 2 spot. Additionally, collaborations such as “II Most Wanted” with Miley Cyrus and a cover of Dolly Parton’s classic “Jolene” claimed spots in the Top 10 at No. 6 and No. 7, respectively.
Other tracks from the album, including “Levii’s Jeans” featuring Post Malone, “Bodyguard,” and a rendition of The Beatles’ “Blackbird,” also made waves on the charts, with ten songs cracking the Top 50.
Notably, “Protector,” featuring Beyoncé and JAY-Z’s daughter Rumi Carter, debuted at No. 42 on the Hot 100, making Rumi the youngest female artist ever to appear on the chart at just six years and nine months old. This achievement surpasses the record previously held by her older sister Blue Ivy, who made her mark on the charts at seven years old with “Brown Skin Girl.”
In addition to its chart success, “Cowboy Carter” had a notable impact beyond the music industry. The collaboration between Beyoncé and Post Malone on “Levi’s Jeans” led to a surge in popularity for Levi Strauss & Co. Soon after the album’s release, the American clothing company changed its Instagram name to reflect the song title, resulting in a 20% spike in its stock on April 4, as reported by CBS News.
