Burna Boy’s South Africa Concert Postponed Due to Production Issues, Not Low Ticket Sales

Burna Boy’s highly anticipated concert at FNB Stadium in South Africa, originally scheduled for September 23, 2023, has been officially postponed, and On A Spaceship Management, the Nigerian artist’s management outfit, has provided clarity on the reasons behind the decision.

Contrary to initial reports suggesting low ticket sales as the cause for the postponement, On A Spaceship Management released an official statement explaining that the primary reason for the concert’s delay was production-related issues. The management clarified that the event’s promoters failed to meet their contractual, financial, production, and technical obligations.

In the statement, it was expressed with regret, “Sadly, it is with great regret that we must inform you that despite my team’s effort, the show in Johannesburg on September 23rd will be cancelled due to the inability of the promoters to fulfil their contractual, financial, production, and technical obligations. Production vendors have still not been paid, and as such, it is evident at this point that the agreed production standard needed for this venue size cannot be achieved. We hereby state that all ticketing companies must ensure that is refunded in full. Deepest apologies to all fans, looking forward to seeing you all soon.”

Burna Boy himself addressed the speculations surrounding the concert’s cancellation due to low ticket sales, categorizing such claims as part of an agenda. He assured his South African fans that he would be reconnecting with them soon, emphasizing that the postponement was solely due to production challenges.
