Busta Rhymes Teams Up With Pharrell, Timbaland, and Swizz Beatz for Upcoming Album ‘The Blockbusta’

Hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes is set to drop his latest solo album, “The Blockbusta,” with an all-star line-up of producers and collaborators, including Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, and Swizz Beatz. The announcement was made via an Instagram post featuring a Zoom meeting with prominent figures in the industry.

Scheduled to release on Black Friday, November 24, the album is notably Busta Rhymes’ 11th solo effort, despite him dubbing it his 10th in the video. The project is executive produced by the trio of Pharrell Williams, Timbaland, and Swizz Beatz, collectively referred to as the “committee.”

“I’m so grateful that you chose me to be a part of your legacy,” Busta Rhymes expressed during the Zoom call, showcasing his appreciation for the collaborators.

Pharrell Williams described the album as “illuminated,” emphasizing that it will radiate positivity and energy. Timbaland added that it will be “timeless,” a quality often associated with Busta Rhymes’ impressive career.

This forthcoming release follows his 2020 album, “Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God,” which featured an array of superstar appearances. The album debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200, solidifying Busta Rhymes’ enduring influence on the genre.

Earlier this year, fellow rapper Waka Flocka expressed his desire for a collaborative album between Busta Rhymes and 50 Cent, pushing for the two artists to work together. Busta Rhymes and 50 Cent are currently performing together as part of 50 Cent’s Final Lap Tour, which is set to be a remarkable experience for fans.

In a recent conversation with Funk Flex, the DJ opined that Busta Rhymes would be unbeatable in a Verzuz battle, even suggesting he could potentially tie with Missy Elliott. The statement emphasized Busta Rhymes’ status as a hip-hop icon and the respect he garners from peers and fans alike.

“You want me to tell you who would beat JAY-Z at a Verzuz? Hands down embarrass him?” he asked, before answering boldly: “Busta Rhymes would spank anybody in a Verzuz.”

He added: “There is no one that will beat Busta Rhymes as a solo artist in a Verzuz… Maybe it could be a tie with Missy [Elliott].”
