Cassie Seeks to Block Diddy’s Legal Bid for Her Memoir and Financial Records
Singer Cassie has filed a motion in court to stop music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs from accessing a personal manuscript and her financial information amid ongoing legal disputes.
According to reports by TMZ, Diddy’s legal team recently served Cassie with a subpoena requesting any written material related to a potential tell-all book. This includes drafts, diaries, notes, and communications about publishing such a project. In addition, the subpoena seeks access to Cassie’s bank records.
Cassie’s legal team is pushing back, asking a judge to deny the request and arguing that the demands are invasive and irrelevant to the current case.
The development comes months after Cassie filed a civil lawsuit against Combs in November 2023, accusing him of sexual assault and human trafficking. The suit was settled just one day after it was filed, though further legal disputes have since emerged.
Sources close to the case claim Diddy is seeking the documents as part of his defense strategy. He reportedly alleges that Cassie once offered to sell the rights to her memoir for $30 million in exchange for keeping it from the public—an offer he declined.
In a related matter, Diddy’s legal team is challenging the authenticity of a hotel surveillance video from 2016 that appears to show him physically assaulting Cassie. The footage, released by CNN, has sparked widespread backlash.
To dispute the reliability of the video, Diddy’s attorneys submitted expert testimony from Conor McCourt, a former NYPD officer and forensic video analyst. McCourt argues the footage is flawed, claiming it was altered during processing, which may have sped up the action and distorted the scale. He also pointed to discrepancies in time stamps, suggesting possible gaps in the recording.
Despite issuing a public apology for his actions shown in the footage, Combs is reportedly seeking to prevent the video from being admitted as evidence in court.
Federal prosecutors have not yet responded to the latest claims about the video’s reliability. However, they previously confirmed they are in possession of the original recording.
As legal proceedings continue, both sides remain locked in a high-stakes battle involving past trauma, public image, and potentially explosive unpublished material.
