Chidimma Adetshina Announces Exit from Pageantry, Citing Personal Reasons

Miss Universe first runner-up Chidimma Adetshina has officially announced her retirement from pageantry, marking the end of her journey in the competitive world of beauty contests.

In an interview with Silverbird TV, Adetshina revealed that her experience in pageantry was deeply challenging, describing it as “traumatic.” She also disclosed plans to relocate to Nigeria from South Africa, where she had previously been based.

“Finishing in the top two at the Miss Universe competition is still a shocker for me,” Adetshina said. “Honestly, I am done. Pageantry was a real traumatic experience for me. There were times during the contest when I almost gave up.”

Adetshina shared that her decision to step away was driven by a desire to focus on personal growth and education. “I want to focus on myself, establish who I am, and forward my education as well,” she added.

Despite the challenges, Adetshina achieved significant milestones in her career. After being named 1st runner-up at Miss Universe, she was crowned Miss Universe Africa and Oceania. She had previously won the Miss Nigeria title after withdrawing from the Miss South Africa contest amid scrutiny over her nationality.

Adetshina’s decision to leave pageantry underscores her determination to pursue a new chapter in her life, one centred on self-discovery and personal development.
