Childish Gambino Drops Surprise Album ‘Atavista’ Featuring Star-Studded Collaborations
Renowned rapper and singer Childish Gambino, also known as Donald Glover, has made a triumphant return with his surprise release of the album “Atavista,” boasting an array of notable collaborations.
The unexpected drop, unveiled on Monday (May 13), signals a prolific year ahead for the multi-talented artist, who continues to push boundaries in the music industry.
“Atavista” emerges as the polished rendition of Gambino’s 2020 album “3.15.20,” offering revamped tracks, official song titles, and a revised tracklisting. Notably, the album showcases fresh vocals from acclaimed artists such as Young Nudy and Summer Walker, alongside returning guests including 21 Savage, Ariana Grande, Ink, and Kadhja Bonet.
Gambino took to social media platform X to announce the release of “Atavista,” hinting at an upcoming vinyl edition that will feature visual accompaniments for each track.
“ATAVISTA is streaming now,” he declared. “This album is the finished version of ‘3.15.20’, the album I put out 4 years ago. There’s a special vinyl coming soon w/ visuals for each song.”
In a further revelation, Gambino confirmed the impending release of his next album, titled “Bando Stone in the New World,” slated for a summer debut. Positioned as his final album under the moniker Childish Gambino, it serves as a soundtrack to an accompanying film project of the same name.
To complement the album announcement, Gambino premiered the music video for “Little Foot Big Foot,” featuring Nudy. Directed by his longtime collaborator Hiro Murai, the cinematic black-and-white visual transports viewers to a bygone era, showcasing Gambino and his ensemble performing in a vintage bar setting.
Despite initial indifference from the audience, the video takes a dramatic turn when an unexpected tragedy unfolds, underscoring Gambino’s signature blend of storytelling and visual artistry.
