Reebok Enters Digital Wearable Market with AI-Powered Custom Sneaker Feature

In a bid to innovate within the digital fashion landscape, Reebok announced a groundbreaking partnership with Futureverse, introducing “Reebok Impact” – an AI-powered tool allowing users to transform their favourite photos into custom-designed digital sneakers.

Unveiled on Friday, “Reebok Impact” enables users to submit photos via Instagram direct message, receiving personalized digital sneakers crafted to match the colours and style of the image. With the option to create up to four pairs for free and export the file to popular gaming platforms like Fortnite and Roblox, the initiative aims to bridge the gap between virtual fashion and gaming culture.

Futureverse co-founders, Shara Senderoff and Aaron McDonald expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the seamless user experience facilitated by AI technology. They noted that this marks just the beginning of a new era in fashion, where digital customization meets consumer demand in innovative ways.

Reebok joins the ranks of brands venturing into the digital fashion realm, following Adidas’ recent collaboration with move-to-earn app STEPN to introduce Adidas sneaker NFTs. Meanwhile, corporate rival Nike unveiled updates to its digital wearable business, including the launch of .SWOOSH, a platform allowing users to design digital shoes and compete for the chance to bring their creations to life.

While Reebok’s “Reebok Impact” does not currently offer physical sneaker purchases, the company hinted at incentives for users to engage with the platform, potentially leading to real-life transactions down the line.

Amidst these developments, industry observers speculate whether the upcoming Onchain Summer event, organized by Base, could herald a new era akin to the “DeFi Summer” of 2020. With a four-week hackathon boasting significant prize funds and grants, Base aims to foster excitement and innovation within the blockchain space, signalling the potential for a resurgence in decentralized finance activities reminiscent of previous years.
