Chioma Chukwuka Reveals She Learned Yoruba for Netflix Series Role

Veteran Nollywood actress Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha has shared the lengths she went to prepare for her role in the newly released Netflix series Seven Doors.

The series, which explores themes of kingship, family, love, betrayal, and restitution, features Chukwuka-Akpotha as an Igbo queen married to a Yoruba king, played by Femi Adebayo. Her character required her to deliver lines fluently in Yoruba, a challenge she embraced through dedicated preparation.

In a recent interview on TVC alongside her co-star, Adebayo, Chukwuka-Akpotha revealed that she took lessons to master the language for the role.

“I had to learn Yoruba for my role in Seven Doors,” she explained. “The Yoruba used in the series wasn’t the everyday version spoken in Lagos, so I had to focus on getting the tone and pronunciation just right.”

Her dedication to perfecting the language has been praised by fans and critics alike, further solidifying her reputation as one of Nollywood’s most versatile actors.
