Chris Brown Sued Over Unpaid $2m Popeyes Restaurant Loan

Singer Chris Brown is currently facing a $2 million lawsuit filed by City National Bank, a Georgia-based company. The bank alleges that it loaned Brown money to purchase two Popeyes Chicken fast-food restaurants, which ultimately never materialized.

The lawsuit, filed in California where Brown resides, claims that the loan was extended to a group of individuals, including Brown and The-Dream, for the restaurant purchase. However, the loan remains unpaid despite the bank’s efforts to collect since 2018. According to the lawsuit, as of February 17, 2023, the borrowers owe $2,140,901.74 in unpaid principal and interest.

The lawsuit represents a collection suit, indicating that City National Bank has obtained a default judgment against Chris Brown and is seeking to recover the owed amount. It remains unclear how the bank is pursuing The-Dream’s share of the claim.

This lawsuit adds to a series of legal challenges that Chris Brown is currently facing. He is also contending with a $71 million dog attack lawsuit filed by his former housekeepers. The trial date for the dog bite lawsuit has been postponed to December 2023 due to ongoing treatment for the injuries sustained by the plaintiff, identified as Patricia Avila, during a dog attack at Brown’s property in 2020. The lawsuit alleges that one of Brown’s dogs attacked Patricia’s sister, Maria, resulting in severe injuries, hospitalization, and surgeries.

The postponement was requested by Brown’s legal team, who argued that the delay would not harm the plaintiff and would allow them to gather necessary evidence for the trial.
