Court Approves Second Autopsy for Late Singer Mohbad’s Family
The Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State has authorized the family of the late singer Mohbad to conduct a second autopsy.
The family expressed dissatisfaction with the initial autopsy results, which were considered inconclusive. Mohbad, 27, passed away under controversial circumstances on September 12, 2023, and was buried the following day.
Responding to public demand for clarity on his cause of death, Mohbad’s body was exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH). However, the family rejected the results, criticizing the autopsy for failing to determine the cause of death.
The family appealed to the coroner’s inquest for an independent toxicology report to be submitted before the final report is given to the authorities.
During a hearing on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, the Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court granted the family and their legal representatives permission to conduct a second autopsy. This decision aims to provide the family with clearer answers regarding Mohbad’s untimely death.
