Daddy Freeze and Hushpuppi

Daddy Freeze Acknowledges Friendship with Hushpuppi, Says He Stood by Him During Tough Times

Media personality Daddy Freeze has openly admitted to being friends with Hushpuppi, the convicted Nigerian fraudster, despite previous claims that he was unaware of his criminal activities.

Hushpuppi, whose real name is Ramon Abbas, was arrested by the FBI in 2020 and later convicted of internet fraud in the United States. Before his arrest, Daddy Freeze had shared videos from a visit to Hushpuppi’s luxurious Dubai home in 2019, drawing criticism from social media users who accused him of promoting the socialite’s extravagant lifestyle.

While the on-air personality had previously defended himself by stating he only saw Hushpuppi as an influencer, he recently admitted in a video – shared by Tunde Ednut on Sunday – that he considered Hushpuppi a friend, even though he suspected his wealth was not legitimate.

“Hushpuppi has never given me money before, not even $1,” Daddy Freeze said. “But Hushpuppi gave me friendship when nobody wanted to be my friend because they believed I was the devil.”

He went on to explain that he met Hushpuppi during a trip to Dubai, where he had been invited along with other influencers. At the time, he said, he felt isolated, as many in his industry had distanced themselves from him.

“The first time I met Hushpuppi was when I was picked with some influencers to go to Dubai, and I had already started the #FreeTheSheeple movement, but the influencers didn’t like me. The church I attended for 10 years rejected me, and everybody turned their back on me. Then Hushpuppi sent me a DM saying, ‘Where are you? Come over.’”

Daddy Freeze recounted spending time with Hushpuppi and his circle, socializing and taking pictures that were later shared on Snapchat. He maintained that he remained loyal to the friendship despite knowing there were suspicions surrounding Hushpuppi’s wealth.

“I might have guessed that his money was not legit,” he admitted. “But as Davido said in one of his songs, ‘Dey for who dey for you.’”

His latest remarks have once again sparked reactions, with some criticizing him for maintaining ties with a convicted fraudster, while others commended his loyalty.
