Davido Addresses Controversy Over Ubi Franklin and Spyro’s $5,000 Dispute

Nigerian singer Davido has responded to allegations involving his name in a financial dispute between his associate Ubi Franklin and fellow artist Spyro.

Spyro recently claimed in an interview that Ubi Franklin used Davido’s name to deceive him into performing at a birthday party in Ghana. According to Spyro, Franklin promised him $5,000 for the performance but failed to pay.

Franklin, however, refuted the accusation, alleging that Spyro owed him money from a separate transaction. He explained that Spyro was supposed to pay him a 10% commission for facilitating his recent car purchase and withheld the $5,000 as part of that payment. Franklin asserted that Spyro still owes him ₦2 million.

The back-and-forth has sparked mixed reactions online, with Davido’s name being dragged into the controversy. In response, Davido took to his Instagram Story to express regret over his name being associated with the matter. Sharing a clip of Franklin’s rebuttal, the singer simply wrote, “Pls, I’m sorry.”

Davido’s brief reaction appears to be an effort to distance himself from the ongoing feud while acknowledging the use of his name in the dispute.
