D’banj, Youssou N’Dour, and Chechi Sarai Collaborate on New Single “Worthy”
Nigerian music icon D’banj has announced the release of “Worthy,” a collaborative single featuring Grammy Award-winning legend Youssou N’Dour and NBC’s The Voice runner-up Chechi Sarai. The track, celebrating romantic love as a metaphor for their passion for Africa, recently hit streaming platforms and broadcast stations.
The “Worthy” music video showcases a blend of music, culture, and scenic beauty, filmed across Dakar, Senegal, and at the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History in Lagos, Nigeria. It also features a special appearance by football legend El Hadji Diouf. This track marks the fourth single from D’banj’s anticipated fifth studio album, “Entertainer—The Sequel,” which will be available for pre-save from July 23 and officially released on August 9, 2024, under DB Records. The song was co-written by renowned rapper Olamide and produced by Eskeez, with visuals directed by award-winning director Clarence Peters.
“Worthy” is part of D’banj’s celebration of his 20th anniversary in the music industry, culminating in a global tour. This collaboration with Youssou N’Dour, who is celebrating his 40th anniversary, symbolizes a tribute to Africa’s rich musical heritage.
The single carries a message of hope and unity for Africans worldwide. Speaking about the song, D’banj said, “When we come together as one, we not only honour our heritage but also unlock our borderless potential to lead the world. The future belongs to a united Africa, worthy of her dreams and aspirations.”
