DJ Envy Confronts Tyrese Over ‘Disrespectful Sh*t’ He Said to His Wife
DJ Envy and Tyrese Gibson recently had a face-to-face confrontation addressing past “disrespectful” comments made by the actor towards Envy’s wife. Tyrese, known for his roles in the Fast & Furious franchise, appeared on The Breakfast Club on Thursday, September 7, igniting a discussion that also revisited their relationship.
Despite Tyrese’s public struggles, including a messy divorce and mental health issues, he questioned why there was no outreach from friends like DJ Envy, whom he had assisted during marital challenges.
Envy began the conversation by expressing his lack of respect for Tyrese’s actions during their private chats, leading to him blocking Tyrese. He admitted to not wanting to remember Tyrese in that manner, stating, “That wasn’t the man that was my brother.”
Tyrese, attributing his behaviour to being on psych meds at the time, asked Envy if he would hold a person accountable for their actions when they were drunk.
Envy responded by explaining that he distanced himself to preserve his image of Tyrese as a brother who had helped his relationship. He also brought up a series of disrespectful messages allegedly sent by Tyrese to his wife, which contributed to his decision to distance himself.
Tyrese did not issue a formal apology but stressed that his actions were “out of his control” due to medication and hoped for grace and a second chance from those he had hurt.
Earlier this year, Tyrese candidly discussed his mental health issues, acknowledging that certain medications, like Rexulti, had caused him to make false claims and engage in erratic behavior online.
