Drake Places $700K Bet on UFC Championship Fight, Eyes $1.4M Payout

Canadian rapper Drake is rolling the dice once again, this time betting a hefty $700,000 on the upcoming UFC Championship Fight featuring Sean Strickland and Dricus du Plessis. The 6 God, known for his penchant for high-stakes wagers, revealed his move on Instagram, using the Stake platform where he has been actively involved since December 2021.

The anticipated bout is set to take place on Saturday evening, and if Strickland emerges victorious, Drake stands to pocket just under $1.4 million from his sizable bet. This move comes after Drake faced a setback in October, losing $1 million on a bet involving the Logan Paul fight where his chosen fighter, Paul, won via disqualification rather than a knockout as predicted by the rapper.

Drake’s involvement with the Stake platform extends beyond this recent wager. Reports in February 2022 unveiled that the Scorpion rapper had engaged in virtual gambling, placing bets close to $1 billion since 2021 on the same platform. In September 2023, Drake previously wagered $500,000 on Israel Adesanya to secure a knockout victory against Sean Strickland in their UFC 293 bout.

Known for his enthusiasm for sporting bets, Drake also took a considerable stake in a fight between YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul and former UFC contender Nate Diaz. The rapper reportedly wagered $250,000 in favor of Diaz, expressing loyalty to the Diaz brothers. However, Paul claimed victory via unanimous decision.

In a recent press conference, Jake Paul playfully blamed Drake for a previous loss, stating, “This is Drake’s fault! Drake, bro! Why you do this to me!” Despite the loss, Paul acknowledged that Drake had won substantial amounts betting on him in the past and vowed to secure a win in the rematch. Drake’s involvement in high-stakes sports betting has been a subject of both fascination and speculation, with the rapper occasionally falling victim to the infamous “Drake curse.”
