Eedris Abdulkareem Launches ‘Tell Your Papa’ Challenge Following Government Ban

Veteran Nigerian musician Eedris Abdulkareem has responded to the federal government’s ban on his controversial new song by launching an online challenge aimed at amplifying public dissent.

The move comes just days after the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) prohibited airplay of Abdulkareem’s anti-Tinubu track, Tell Your Papa, across all radio and television stations. In a memo signed by NBC’s Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring, Susan Obi, the song was described as “inappropriate and offensive.”

In a defiant reaction to the ban, Abdulkareem took to Instagram on Sunday to unveil the Tell Your Papa challenge, urging Nigerians to use their voices to hold those in power accountable.

“Nothing strengthens authority so much as silence,” he wrote in the caption. “There is a time to speak and a time to keep silent. This is the time to speak and make your voice heard.”

He also accused the government of trying to “suppress criticism” and “silence the truth,” reiterating his commitment to speaking out through music and encouraging others to do the same.

The challenge has begun gaining traction on social media, with fans and activists joining the conversation under the campaign’s hashtag.
