Eminem Reignites Feud with Diddy, Linking Him to Biggie and 2Pac’s Murders in ‘Fuel’ Remix
Eminem has stirred up fresh controversy by reigniting his feud with Diddy in a newly released remix of “Fuel,” where the rapper appears to suggest Diddy’s involvement in the deaths of Biggie Smalls and 2Pac.
On Friday (September 13), the Detroit rap icon dropped the Expanded Mourner’s Edition of his latest album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), which included a remixed version of “Fuel” featuring Westside Boogie and Grip, signees from his Shady Records label.
In his intense verse, Eminem takes direct shots at the Bad Boy Records mogul, rapping: “The Notorious B.I.G.’s death was the domino effects of 2Pac’s murder… / ‘Til he’s in police handcuffs, guilty, will he step up?” His lyrics appear to reference long-standing rumours about Diddy’s alleged role in 2Pac’s murder in 1996.
The verse comes after years of speculation and allegations surrounding Diddy’s involvement. In a 2008 police interview, Duane “Keefe D” Davis — who has recently been charged with conspiring to murder 2Pac — claimed that Diddy had offered him $1 million to kill both 2Pac and Suge Knight during the infamous Bad Boy-Death Row feud. Although Diddy has consistently denied these claims, calling them “pure fiction” in a 2011 interview, the rumours have persisted.
Eminem’s new verse isn’t the first time he’s linked Diddy to the deaths of Biggie and 2Pac. The original version of “Fuel,” featuring JID, also referenced the two rappers’ murders, along with accusations of sexual misconduct against Diddy. In that version, Eminem rapped: “R.I.P., rest in peace Biggie / And ‘Pac, both of y’all should be living / But I ain’t tryna beef with him / ‘Cause he might put a hit on me like, ‘Keefe D, get him.’”
Eminem has taken aim at Diddy in multiple tracks on the album, including another track, “Antichrist,” where he made further jabs at the music mogul. Despite Diddy’s repeated denials and the lack of charges against him in connection to 2Pac’s death, the inflammatory nature of Eminem’s lyrics has reignited public interest and controversy surrounding the unresolved mysteries of both murders.
