Jet Blue CEO Robin Hayes

Former JetBlue CEO Robin Hayes Appointed as Airbus North America Leader

Former JetBlue CEO Robin Hayes is set to assume a pivotal role as the leader of Airbus in North America, stepping into the position of chairman and chief executive officer.

Hayes, who served as JetBlue’s CEO for nine years, departed from the company on February 12. He will succeed Jeff Knittel, who announced his retirement on Monday, as the head of Airbus Americas.

Hayes’ appointment comes at a significant juncture for Airbus as the European aircraft manufacturer aims to capitalize on opportunities in the North American market, particularly in light of challenges faced by its American competitor, Boeing.

Airbus achieved record annual jet orders in 2023, and CEO Guillaume Faury expressed anticipation regarding further growth in North America, emphasizing the strategic objectives for the region across all Airbus businesses.

Hayes, who brings extensive industry experience to his new role, departed from JetBlue in January citing a need to prioritize his health and well-being based on medical advice.

Expressing enthusiasm for his new position, Hayes stated that he was excited and energized to join Airbus after taking some time off.

In his capacity as chairman and CEO of Airbus North America, Hayes will lead the company’s commercial aircraft business and oversee operations in helicopters, space, and defence in the region.
