FRSC Team Commended for Returning N27m From Crash Scene

The Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu, of the Federal Road Safety Corps, has commended the patrol teams of the Osun State Sector Command for returning the sum of N27,171,400 recovered from an auto crash scene last week.

The FRSC patrol team last week reportedly recovered the N27.1m from the scene of a road accident that occurred in Ipetu Ijesa, Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State.

The accident claimed six lives while seven people sustained varying degrees of injury.

A statement on Sunday by the corps spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem, quoted the FRSC Corps Marshal to have applauded the team for their display of professionalism.

Biu said, “I want to commend the entire team for being patriotic, honest, efficient, and professional in delivering the mandate of the FRSC. This act they showed would never be forgotten as it is considered a great service to humanity.

“I want to charge every officer to emulate this character exhibited by the team, as good deeds pay off and the road is patient but does not forgive.”

The Corps Marshal said the recovered N27m was returned to the victim’s family in the presence of the Divisional Police Officer, Ipetu-Ijesa, Seriki Owena; and the head of the Hausa community.
Biu said many crashes on Nigerian roads were avoidable if only motorists would adhere to traffic rules and regulations.

He added, “You will recall that two commercial vehicles, an Opel and a Toyota Sienna, were involved in the accident. The probable causes of the crash were dangerous driving and speeding.
“Seven people were injured, six people died, the total number of people involved was 14, and one person was not injured. The injured victims were taken to Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa, while the corpses of the deceased were deposited at the same hospital morgue.

“A sum of N21,900 that belongs to the driver who drove GBA440XA OPEL ZAFIRA was handed over to NPF Ijebu Ijesa. The NPF towed the vehicles to their station.

The Corps Marshal urged motorists to comply with the traffic rules and regulations to avoid crashes, especially during this festive period.
