Ghost of Yotei: Legends To Receive No More Major Updates
Sucker Punch has confirmed that Ghost of Yotei: Legends will not receive any more major updates, disappointing fans who had hoped for additional content for the online multiplayer mode.
Legends, the free multiplayer component of Ghost of Yotei, launched on March 11 and recently received its first Raid update. However, the developers have now revealed that the update marks the end of the game’s planned major content rollout.
In a blog post published by the studio, Sucker Punch stated that “The Raid update was our last major planned update for Legends,” adding that it concludes the storyline of the Yōtei Six within the multiplayer mode.
The developers expressed appreciation to players for supporting and engaging with the mode since launch.
Despite announcing the end of major updates, the studio also reflected on the creative process behind developing The Raid mode and shared insights into its design philosophy.
According to the developers, the original concept for The Raid was described internally as “an escape room where people are trying to kill you.”
Lead Designer Darren Bridges explained that one of the most rewarding aspects of building multiplayer experiences is observing how players react and adapt in real time.
He noted that watching players communicate, strategise and evolve during gameplay provides developers with valuable insight into the overall player experience.
The decision to end major updates for Ghost of Yotei: Legends has sparked disappointment among some fans, especially when compared to Ghost of Tsushima’s multiplayer mode, which continued receiving updates for more than a year after launch.
It remains unclear whether Sucker Punch plans to release smaller patches or support updates in the future, or if the conclusion of The Raid storyline marks the complete end of content development for Legends.
