Gina Carano Accuses Disney of Attempting to Control Her Views Amid Lawsuit Dismissal Motion

Gina Carano, the former star of “The Mandalorian,” has launched scathing criticism against Disney, alleging the studio sought to “control” her expressions, following its recent motion to dismiss her lawsuit against the company.

Carano, 41, was terminated from her role as Cara Dune in the popular TV series in 2021 due to contentious remarks made on social media. In February, she initiated legal action against Disney and its subsidiary Lucasfilm, with financial backing from entrepreneur Elon Musk, who pledged support for individuals facing employment discrimination based on their expressed beliefs.

Disney’s filing this Tuesday seeks to dismiss Carano’s lawsuit, citing its constitutional right under the First Amendment to distance itself from her speech as a matter of artistic expression.

In response, Carano took to X (formerly Twitter), asserting that Disney’s defence essentially acknowledges discriminatory practices against her based on her opinions. She asserted, “Disney will take any chance they get to control what you say, what you think, or they will attempt to destroy your career.”

The actress’s statement on X further emphasized her belief that Disney’s actions constitute a violation of the First Amendment and reflect the studio’s values, as she perceives them.

Carano’s history of controversial remarks, including allegations of racism and transphobia, as well as her refusal to adhere to COVID-19 protocols in Hollywood, has fueled ongoing debate and scrutiny surrounding her actions and statements.
