Kirsten Dunst Credits Motherhood for Enhancing Her Acting Skills

Kirsten Dunst, known for her illustrious career spanning over three decades, believes that motherhood has profoundly enriched her abilities as an actress.

The 41-year-old actress, who shares two children, Ennis and James, with her husband Jesse Plemons, shared insights into her evolving craft while on the set of her latest movie, ‘Civil War.’

Reflecting on her experience, Dunst remarked, “My child turned one on this film, so I really felt like I was really in it still. They make me better at what I do, for sure. I think once you become a mom, you’re just more fearless in life.”

In her role as a renowned war photojournalist in the new drama film, Dunst delved into her maternal instincts, which she believes have added depth and fearlessness to her performances.

When questioned about her changed worldview after working on the project, Dunst admitted to harbouring anxieties about the current state of the world, an aspect she had contemplated long before the movie.

In an interesting anecdote, Dunst disclosed that she persuaded her husband, Jesse Plemons, to step into the role of an unnamed soldier in a pivotal scene of the film, acknowledging his acting prowess despite his initial reluctance.

Dunst’s collaboration with director Alex Garland on the futuristic film, which follows a team of journalists traversing a divided United States during a multiparty Second American Civil War, underscores her continuous pursuit of compelling and challenging roles. She expressed admiration for Garland’s work since ‘Ex Machina’ and seized the opportunity to collaborate with him upon reading the script.
