I Assisted You to Bury Your Mother – Kwam1 Drags Kollington Over Failure to Reciprocate
Fuji music icon, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as Kwam1, has publicly expressed his disappointment with his senior colleague and mentor, Ayinla Kollington, for failing to support him during his recent bereavement.
Kwam1, who lost his mother on January 18, 2025, and buried her the same day in line with Islamic rites, said he was hurt that Kollington did not reach out to offer condolences.
Speaking during an interview with OAP Bamidele Adeyanju on Agbaletu Radio, Kwam1 recalled how he had stood by Kollington during his own time of grief, covering all financial expenses and rallying dignitaries, including governors, to attend the burial of Kollington’s mother.
“I’m very angry with Alhaji Kollington for not reaching out when I lost my mother,” he said. “When his mother died, I gave my full support and made sure she received a befitting burial. I handled everything financially and brought important guests.”
Kwam1 accused Kollington of offering a flimsy excuse for his absence, claiming he had tried calling but was unable to get through.
“He was in Nigeria, healthy and well when my mother passed. To say he called and I didn’t pick is not enough. Am I not supposed to feel angry?” Kwam1 added.
His comments have stirred reactions within the Fuji music community, where both men are regarded as major figures.
