I Love My Gay Friends But I’m Straight – Actor Uzor Arukwe Addresses Sexuality Rumours
Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has spoken out for the first time regarding rumors surrounding his sexuality, firmly stating that he is straight.
During an appearance on the Unfiltered and Extra Spicy show, Arukwe addressed the speculation that had circulated online, clarifying that while he has many friends within the LGBTQ+ community and fully supports them, he does not identify as gay.
“The worst rumor I’ve ever heard about myself was that I’m gay,” Arukwe said. “I was shocked to my bones, but at the same time, I felt a bit excited because I heard that once people start spreading such rumors, it means you’re about to blow. So I told myself, ‘This must be it.'”
Expressing his admiration and respect for his gay friends, the actor emphasized that his friendships are based on love and acceptance. However, he made it clear that he would not accept labels that do not represent his truth.
“I have a lot of gay friends, and I love them to death. I have absolutely nothing against them,” Arukwe continued. “But I’m not gay, and I won’t agree to what I am not. If I were, I would own it proudly. I would even be one of the hottest around.”
Arukwe concluded by saying he leaves judgment to God, reinforcing that he is comfortable and confident in who he is.
