Black Panther Star Connie Chiume Passes Away at 72
Connie Chiume, the internationally celebrated South African actress known for her roles in “Black Panther” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” has passed away at the age of 72.
Chiume died on Tuesday at Garden City Hospital, her family announced in a public statement. “The Chiume Family regrets to inform you of the passing of internationally acclaimed award-winning actress Connie Chiume,” the statement read. “Connie, 72, died today on August 6, 2024, at Garden City Hospital. The family will communicate further details and ask for privacy during this difficult period.”
Throughout her career, Chiume gained recognition for her diverse roles in numerous popular television shows, including “Mohlolohadi,” “Zone 14,” “Yizo Yizo,” “Rhythm City,” “Housekeepers,” and “Grassroots.” Her portrayal in the Marvel blockbuster “Black Panther” brought her international fame.
Most recently, she starred in the hit series “Gomora” and featured in Beyoncé’s film “Black Is King.”
