‘Fela Died Early for Not Minding His Business’ – Portable (VIDEO)
Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable, has sparked debate by attributing the death of legendary Afrobeats pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti to his activism. In a recent interview on the ‘Echoo Room’ podcast with media personality Quincy Jonze, Portable claimed Fela died prematurely because he “did not mind his business.”
The singer’s comments, which have been trending on social media, suggest that Fela’s decision to fight for Nigerians contributed to his early demise. “If Fela had minded his business a little, he would have lived longer. He was busy fighting for Nigerians wey no fight for their selves,” Portable remarked.
During the interview, Portable also addressed his recent online spat with rapper Zlatan Ibile, whom he accused of causing a rift between him and fellow artist Davido. “Me and Davido did not quarrel until when the devil Zlatan came,” Portable claimed, while discussing his ongoing conflicts in the music industry.
The remarks have stirred mixed reactions among fans, with many criticizing the singer’s views on the late Afrobeat icon.
