I Declined to Make Beats for Kizz Daniel After He Offered Me N50k – Producer Philkeys

Renowned music producer, Philip Ahaiwe Chukwuja, professionally known as Philkeys, recently shared an interesting anecdote about his encounter with popular singer Kizz Daniel. Philkeys revealed that he once turned down the opportunity to work with the budding artist when he offered to pay him a meager sum of N50,000 for a studio session.

During the time of the incident, Kizz Daniel was still an up-and-coming musician, and Philkeys, already established in the industry, declined the offer because he was already collaborating with legendary musician King Sunny Ade.

In a recent interview with MTV Base Africa, Philkeys recounted the incident, stating, “He [Kizz Daniel] reached out to me. He was not signed then. He told me that he had a certain amount of money, I think N50k, that he wanted to work with me.”

However, Philkeys, confident in his worth and experience, declined the offer due to his higher charges at the time while working with King Sunny Ade. He humorously added, “That time I be big boy. I was like, ‘No o, I’m not doing.'”

Although Philkeys expected Kizz Daniel to reconsider and contact him again, he didn’t receive any follow-up call. Consequently, they both moved on from the missed opportunity. However, fate intervened when Kizz Daniel achieved stardom. The singer reached out to Philkeys once more, expressing his desire to collaborate.

Philkeys gladly accepted the offer, and the duo went on to create several remarkable songs together after Kizz Daniel’s breakthrough with the hit track “Woju.”

The story serves as a testament to the unpredictable nature of the music industry, where fortunes can quickly change. Philkeys’ initial decision to turn down the opportunity did not hinder their eventual collaboration. Instead, it became an interesting anecdote that showcases the journey and growth of both artists.
