“I was Drugged by Women at Very Young Age’ – Rema Reveals
Nigerian music star Rema has opened up about a troubling experience from his early years in the spotlight, revealing that he was taken advantage of shortly after rising to fame.
The singer, who broke into the mainstream after signing with Mavin Records in 2019 at just 19, reflected on how sudden fame exposed him to situations he wasn’t fully prepared for.
In his recent collaboration “Moviestar” with French pianist Sofiane Pamart, Rema alludes to being drugged by women during that period of his life. Through the song’s lyrics, he suggests that many people overlook the emotional weight he carries because they are unaware of how young he was when he entered the industry.
He also hints at the pressures that came with his record deal, noting that despite his personal struggles, expectations to perform and entertain remained constant. According to him, stepping away wasn’t easy, as the demands of the industry often took precedence over his well-being.
The revelation sheds light on the less visible challenges young artists can face behind the scenes, even as they enjoy rapid success.
