Jada Pinkett Smith Shares Why She Can’t Divorce Will Smith
American actress and talk show host Jada Pinkett Smith recently opened up about her reasons for not divorcing her husband, Will Smith, despite the couple leading largely separate lives since 2016. Pinkett made these candid remarks during her appearance on the On Purpose podcast, hosted by Jay Shetty.
The conversation stemmed from a message that Jay Shetty read from Will Smith, in which he praised Jada Pinkett Smith’s memoir, ‘Worthy.’ In his heartfelt message, Will expressed his admiration for Jada’s book and stated that had he read it 30 years ago, he would have hugged her more, even though he’s starting to do so now. He welcomed her to the authors’ club and conveyed his endless love. He concluded by playfully suggesting she enjoy some Merlot and take a well-deserved rest.
Upon hearing this message, Jada Pinkett Smith couldn’t help but blush and respond with humor. She shared, “He knows I can’t have no Merlot. That’s beautiful. That’s why I can’t divorce that joker [laughs].”
This revelation follows Jada Pinkett Smith’s recent disclosure in a clip from her upcoming NBC News primetime special with Hoda Kotb, where she revealed that she and her husband, Will Smith, have essentially been leading separate lives since 2016, despite not having formally divorced on paper.
