Jaywon Pays Emotional Tribute to Late Sound Sultan with Graveside Visit

Nigerian singer Jaywon has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late music icon, Sound Sultan, with a visit to his graveside, honouring the legendary artist’s memory and enduring legacy.

Jaywon shared touching photos from the visit on social media, reflecting on the immense impact Sound Sultan had on his life and the Nigerian music industry. “At the resting place of a mentor, where wisdom, guidance, and inspiration now lay in eternal peace. Gone, but forever a part of us. Keep resting, @soundsultan, forever,” Jaywon wrote.

Sound Sultan, who passed away in 2021 at the age of 44 after battling Angioimmunoblastic T-Cell Lymphoma, was a key figure in Nigerian music, known for his socially conscious lyrics and contributions to Afrobeats. His career, which spanned over two decades, began with his breakout single Jagbajantis in the early 2000s. He went on to release seven albums, four of them under Kennis Music, cementing his place as a trailblazer in the industry.

In addition to his music, Sound Sultan was a talented producer and actor, with notable roles in films like Head Gone (2014) and stage productions like Jungle Story (2018).

Jaywon’s tribute serves as a testament to Sound Sultan’s lasting influence on the music industry and the lives of many who were touched by his artistry. The late singer is survived by his wife and three children.
