K1 De Ultimate Honours Late Mother, Says Royal Status Denied Her a Music Career

Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has paid tribute to his late mother, Princess Halima Anifowoshe, crediting her as a major influence on his musical journey.

Speaking on a podcast to promote his new project, Ganusi: The Album Fuji Classical, the 68-year-old icon revealed that his mother had a deep passion for music and was instrumental in shaping his artistic foundation. He dedicated the track “Mama” from the album to her memory.

“My mother taught me the rudiments of music. She was my composer on many occasions,” he shared.

K1 also disclosed that his mother had dreams of becoming a musician, but was unable to pursue them due to societal expectations surrounding her royal heritage and gender.

“She was a princess, the daughter of a sitting king, and a woman. That combination meant she was expected to marry and not chase a music career,” he said. “But God transferred that talent to me through her. It’s only right that I honour her.”

Princess Halima Anifowoshe passed away in January 2025. K1’s heartfelt tribute highlights not only her personal sacrifice but also the deep bond they shared through music.
