Kanye West Faces Discrimination Lawsuit from Former Employees

Kanye West is facing serious allegations in a new lawsuit filed by an ex-employee, accusing the rapper of discrimination against Black members of his team.

The lawsuit, filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by Page Six, alleges that Benjamin Deshon Provo, a former security guard at the Donda Academy, experienced “severe emotional distress” due to West’s actions.

According to court documents, Provo claims that West and his management team treated Black employees less favourably than their white counterparts. Allegations include West frequently screaming at and berating Black employees while never exhibiting such behaviour toward white staff.

Provo further alleges that West ridiculed Black employees for wearing locs, even though it was part of Provo’s Muslim faith. He claims he was forced to choose between his self-identity and financial stability when West gave him an ultimatum: cut his hair or be fired.

Additionally, Provo alleges that West banned books from prominent Black leaders like Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.

Earlier this month, another former Donda Academy employee, Trevor Phillips, submitted a similar case alleging abuse and discrimination against West. Phillips claims West bullied Black employees, made inappropriate comments about pornography, and expressed controversial views on topics like homosexuality and Judaism.

Phillips also alleges that West attempted to install a jail at the school and gave preferential treatment to white employees.

The lawsuit, detailed in a 42-page complaint, includes claims of spontaneous firings, unusual late-night meetings, and uncomfortable encounters with West.

In response to the lawsuit, Phillips’ attorney stated that they hope the legal action will vindicate their clients’ rights and send a message to West that discrimination and controversial messages have no place in society.

As of now, West’s representatives have not responded to requests for comment regarding the lawsuit.
