Kanye West’s Ex-Business Manager Drops $4.5 Million Lawsuit Alleging Breach of Contract

In a positive turn of events for Kanye West at the start of the new year, his former business manager, Thomas St. John, has chosen to dismiss the $4.5 million lawsuit accusing Kanye of breaching their contract.

Documents obtained by Radar Online on Wednesday (January 3) revealed that St. John informed the court of the dismissal, encompassing the entire action and all parties involved. In response, Kanye also withdrew his countersuit, asserting that the contract had been signed under duress.

St. John initially filed the lawsuit in October 2022, alleging a breach of contract and seeking over $4.5 million. He claimed that Kanye failed to honour the agreed-upon payment of $300,000 per month for a minimum of 18 months to manage his business and finances, abruptly terminating the arrangement after only three months.

In April 2023, Kanye countered by suing for the three payments he had made, totalling $900,000. He argued that he was sleep-deprived and stressed due to his impending divorce from Kim Kardashian, making him unfit to enter into any contract.

On the music front, Kanye West’s collaborative album with Ty Dolla $ign, “Vultures,” faced another delay. A representative for Kanye confirmed to Forbes on Tuesday (January 2) that the release date, originally set for January 12, is now uncertain, marking the third postponement for the project.

Amid speculations about the album’s status, Kanye’s longtime collaborator Malik Yusef shared on Instagram that Ty Dolla $ign was re-recording all of his parts for the album. Yusef clarified that the project has not been scrapped, countering comparisons to past Kanye albums like “Yandhi” and “Turbo Grafx 16” that faced cancellations.
