Kelly Rowland Credits ‘Amazing’ Nipsey Hussle With Inspiring Her Parenting Approach
Kelly Rowland credited the late Nipsey Hussle for inspiring her parenting approach, emphasizing the importance of integrity and good decision-making with her two sons.
In a recent interview with Parents magazine, the Grammy Award-winning singer discussed how Nipsey Hussle’s influence shaped her perspective on raising children, particularly her eight-year-old son, Titan Jewell.
Rowland stated, “I wanted my boys [Titan Jewell and Noah Jon] to have integrity, and I got that from Nipsey Hussle. It’s amazing to me that he would talk to his kids about making the right decision even when no one is watching. That was everything. Nobody knows how hard you work, but you do it because you love it. I want them to be the kind of men who are proud of themselves. That’s really important to me—being good decision-makers.”
Her appreciation for Nipsey Hussle’s values stems from a 2018 interview he had with NBA star Stephen Curry. In that conversation, Nipsey emphasized the importance of integrity and doing the right thing when nobody is watching.
In addition to instilling essential life principles in her children, Kelly Rowland and Beyoncé collaborated on a significant philanthropic project aimed at addressing the housing crisis in Houston. Together, they contributed to the creation of 31 permanent housing units in the city’s Midtown area. The housing development, known as the Knowles-Rowland housing development, received nearly $7,000,000 in funding from the American Rescue Plan.
The housing complex not only offers permanent housing but also provides residents with access to various support services, including case managers, peer specialists, transportation, mental health services, physical and behavioral health support, and more. This initiative has contributed to a 20 percent reduction in homelessness in Harris County and the city of Houston, particularly during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
