Leaked Sony Documents Reveal Significant Upgrades for PS5 Pro

Recent leaks from internal Sony documents suggest that the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 Pro will bring substantial improvements over its predecessor, including a significant boost in ray tracing performance.

While Sony has yet to officially confirm the existence of a PS5 Pro, leaks and rumours have been circulating for some time, indicating a potential Holiday 2024 release. The latest leaks provide insights into the upgraded console’s specifications and performance capabilities.

According to leaked information obtained by reliable insider Tom from Moore’s Law Is Dead, the PS5 Pro’s APU will feature a more powerful GPU, offering a 45-percent performance increase over the standard PS5. However, the most notable enhancement lies in its ray tracing capabilities, with Sony claiming that the GPU will be 2-4 times faster in handling ray tracing tasks.

Additionally, the PS5 Pro is said to boast 300TOPS of 8-bit integer machine learning and 67 TFLOPS/16-bit floating point performance, marking a significant leap from the current PS5’s capabilities. Sony has also introduced a proprietary super-resolution technology called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), similar to DLSS, which aims to upscale PS5 games to 4K resolution and potentially support 8K resolution in the future.

While these leaked documents offer promising insights into the PS5 Pro’s capabilities, it’s essential to approach them with caution, as they represent pre-release information subject to change. Nonetheless, if the leaks prove accurate, Sony’s upcoming console could pose a significant challenge to Microsoft’s Xbox offerings.
