Lewandowski Says He Hasn’t Spoken About Thrashing Barcelona 8-2 Since Arriving in Spain

Having played a prominent role in the 8-2 humiliation of Barcelona in the Champions League a couple of seasons ago, Robert Lewandowski has said he has not spoken abut it with his new teammates at the Spotify Camp Nou.

“I have to admit that we haven’t spoken about it,” Lewandowski said.

“That’s in the past and it’s best to not look back. That’s our way of thinking.”

Speaking on what he hopes to achieve with the team, Lewandowski admitted that his teammates have been extremely helpful in helping him acclimatise to his new surroundings and that he hopes to score as many goals as he can.

“From the first day they [the Barcelona players] try to make things easier for me. That’s a lot for me. I have to adapt to the team,” Lewandowski said.

“I try to do my best. The most important thing is what we do as a team. I never say a figure of how many I want to score. The most important thing is what I do with the team and for the team.

“I always have it in my head to win the game and score the goal. It doesn’t matter the game or the opponent. I’m always hungry to win.

“There is great potential in this team. We all have to go together step by step.”

Upon his arrival at Barcelona, questions were asked about Lewandowski’s relationship with Guardiola given that the manager was in charge of Bayern Munich for 2 seasons.

To this, Lewandowski said, “I talked a lot with him [Guardiola] about tactics.

“After that, it’s easier to adapt to any system. He changed my way of seeing football, of understanding it.

“For me it’s not difficult to find solutions on the pitch because I’ve had great coaches. I think thanks to him it should be easier to adapt to what Xavi [Hernandez] asks.”
