Lloyd Banks Boldly Declares Himself the Best Rapper Alive

In the competitive world of hip-hop, artists frequently claim the title of “the greatest.” Lloyd Banks, the former G-Unit MC, is the latest rapper to join the ongoing debate about who reigns supreme in the rap game.

On Monday, October 23, Banks responded to a fan’s tweet that praised his past brilliance, affirming that he’s still at the top of his game. The fan’s tweet read, “There was a point in time that @Lloydbanks was the greatest rapper walking the earth.” Banks, who often goes by the moniker “PLK” or Punchline King, replied, “Appreciate that, who’s the greatest now?”

When the fan pointed out that during G-Unit’s highly acclaimed mixtape era, Banks was “special” and that no one could out-rap him, the 41-year-old rapper boldly stated, “Ain’t nobody out rapping me now.”

The following day, after a brief exchange with another social media user who challenged his confident assertion, the New York rapper tweeted, “I just be having fun engaging with the ppl on MY twitter..and when I do..I’m in the rap blogs [laughing emoji] damn I hope y’all post my new sh!t that fast!!!! Halloween Havoc IV on the way!!”

However, this recent self-affirmation comes shortly after his former G-Unit comrade, 50 Cent, took jabs at Lloyd Banks and Young Buck during his Final Lap Tour. In a video recap of his New Jersey show in late September, 50 Cent humorously taunted Banks, saying, “They think this is something? Wait ’til they see Lloyd Banks’ tour.” He then directed his remarks at Young Buck, adding, “Wait ’til they see Straight Outta Cashville,” referencing Buck’s debut solo album.

50 Cent’s criticisms of his former signees have been ongoing. In his 2020 book, “Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter,” the mogul expressed disappointment with Banks and Tony Yayo, claiming they had “unfulfilled potential.” He mentioned that he could have done more to help them evolve and change their habits.

“While I was out hustling, Banks was more content staying on his porch and watching the world from there,” 50 Cent wrote. “Banks wanted things to come to him, as opposed to going out and getting them for himself. That’s not me trying to assassinate his character — the guy has ‘Lazy Lloyd’ tattooed on his arm. He literally wears his laziness on his sleeve.” The ongoing banter between 50 Cent and his former comrades has become a spectacle within the hip-hop community. As Lloyd Banks confidently claims his rap supremacy, the debate about who holds the title of “the greatest” in the genre continues.
